Snake Valley is 20 mins past Ballarat if that isn't too far. They are having a club night this Friday (see here http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=85234 ) or come to one of their camps a couple of times a year.

If you mean Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula, then there's also MPAS (Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society) at the Briars in Mt Martha.

+1 for heading out to SV camps. I know the drive is longer than driving to Portsea, but it's definitely worth it for 4 nights of amazing skies, and let's face it, 4 hours total driving for four nights of fabulous is worth it (and more time and fuel economical than 8 x 40 minute trips!)

Keep an eye out for the March camp

You don't have to join the SVAA to come to their camps or club nights. Membership gives you access to the observing site, but all are welcome at their events.
