That's an awsome image of eta carina, so sharp!
I don't know why but getting a decent image of eta has been my nemesis at the moment.
Iv'e had reasonable success with other targets, but something always goes wrong when I try to image this area.

Thanks,

Thank you Justin.
I am not using the Bahtinov mask anymore to focus, i just watch the faintest star in the picture and get it as bright as possible, then it is the sharpest.
Imaging close to the pole can be a hassle
I too had focussed with the Bahtinov mask but I am now finding out that when I slew to a new target, the focus is slightly out and I have started to go back to a similar method you describe based on faint stars.
I really like the star colours and the sharpness in Eta. Something that I am continuing to struggle with for some unknown reason.
Thank you Doug
I wish it was winter so i had more night time.
My QHY9 is stuffing me up because once i go to bed it looks like the camera stops working too.
I waited till 3Am this morning to go to bed and the pictures kept coming till then, because when i woke up, i only saw lines in the top of the pictures and the rest was black.
This has happened to me for every clear night lately
Great images, Martin! I hadn't seen IC2220 before.
I'm hoping it will be clear here in Brisvegas tonight so I can get some testing done with my RC10. I've just added an AO unit and need to get it up and going.

Thank you Rick
The RC10 would do IC2220 very nicely, IC2220 is also called toby jug nebula.
Hope it will be clear in Brisvegas.
Thank you Doug

Sounds a lot like a USB communications problem. I had similar only to find that it was related to RS232 to USB converters loosing their marbles for some reason and stopping the camera in it's tracks. Took a while to find, I had observatory rotation problems, Starry night problems, gemini interface problems and camera problems. Every time was a bit different from the last.
Good luck Marty.
