Coral Reef in Ara

Just playing with the Fighting Dragons data and thought I'd zoom in on the best bit of the Ara Wall in NGC 6188.

There are some cool little bits in there worth looking at

I've processed it with a little more contrast and darkened it a tad to give it a bit of a dark and distant feel (?)...in the narrowband pallet it reminds me of a coral reef

A coral reef from a long way up!!!!

Although looks like the Burdekin flushed a heap of mud out onto the reef. Poor thing's drowning in it!!!

Yep I can see the coral reef. Looks heavily contaminated with green algae though <g>. Whatever the colour it's a nice image.

Cheers

Really nice Mike. Great to be able to get right in and swim around the fine detail on this one.

Nice Mike, but you have to get out a bit more. You must know every inch of every image you have taken. This is a great image no doubt but please not another CentaurusA LOL.

Lovely blue and greens, colours are really unusual but splendid, you can spend weeks processing an image especially with good data with such a big sensor.

The full frame is a fantastic shot Mike (!) - definitely a DM candidate ! But while I appreciate the full res, the crop isn't doing the subject any favours IMO - it's not as striking as the full frame. I'd also prefer the lighter less contrasty look of the original.

Hey, glad to see you've been practicing your halo removal technique!

Cheers, Marcus

Yeh, I'm with ya on this. T'was not meant to be better than the full frame just a curious look in at the details, probably pushed the boundaries of the syetem and prevailing conditions a little but it was just an exercise
