Another Centaurus A

Captured this on Friday night not the best only about 1hrs data in 10 min subs had an issue with guiding half way through so reason cropped and also smoke haze in air from CALM burn offs

excuses I'll nail this one one day, but we've finally got some decent rain so may be another week or so before I can give it a decent go

Cheers all

Nice Trevor, details are great, dust lane is awesome.

A few more subs are the go, grab some more and add to this and it will be stupendous...

What are the scope/cam details?

Cheers

Chris

Nice image! Well done!

I could be wrong, but I think "Centaurus A" is actually the radio name for the object. If we are imaging in the visual spectrum, NGC 5128 is the correct term, isn't it?

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Thanks Mike, would have to agree, not up to your standards as yours and Marcus's are two of the finest I've seen of late

but another one for my collection

Grant, not sure never really thought about it but interesting point although Wikipedia states

Centaurus A (also known as NGC 5128) is a prominent galaxy in the constellation of Centaurus. There is considerable debate in the literature regarding the galaxy's fundamental properties such as its Hubble type (lenticular galaxy or a giant elliptical galaxy)[7] and distance (10-16 million light-years).[2][3][4][5][6] NGC 5128 is one of the closest radio galaxies to Earth, so its active galactic nucleus has been extensively studied by professional astronomers.[11] The galaxy is also the fifth brightest in the sky,[11] making it an ideal amateur astronomy target,[12] although the galaxy is only visible from low northern latitudes and the southern hemisphere.

This one has come up nicely Trevor. I am trying the same tonight with my new TSA120. Hopefully I will get a similar result.
Well done Mate.

Thanks John and Doug

Doug hope you get plenty of data although the FOV will be wider with the new scope the stars should be tight based on your other posts of late

Trevor,

Got me thinking... and looking into it: wiki is wrong! Oh well, a name is a name. Everyone knows it by Cen A anyway.

Very cool Trev. One of your best shots there. Not an easy one for sure. Great details.
