Observing Tonight

I managed to get three hours in tonight, before the clouds rolled in ,observed the usual suspects for starters M31,M33
47Tuc,Venus and Mars, thenattacked some galaxies NGCs 1559,1566, 1365,7331,7332 and a couple of UGC galaxies, UGC15914/15915 inPegasus, these two galaxies have mag of 13.4 and 13.8.
A couple of Planetaries IC418 and NGC 246, IC 418 seemed a bit more of an orange colour tonight, but that was probably because it was quite low down at the time,NGC 246 did not seem to improve withan O111 filter
Mars was quite good with lots of detail at high mag and the seeing was about 8-10 for a short while then deteriated as the clouds rolled in. astroron

Nice report Ron, and i'm jealous of your clear skies. We haven't had clear skies here for about 10 days, and it doesn't look like improving any time soon with the low pressure system sitting over the top of us.

Mars will be dead and buried by the time I get to observe/image it again.

I'm glad you got some viewing time Ron. Damn frustrating it is. Did you stay up at all? When I put the dog out at 12:30 it was crystal clear again

I had a brief look up at the skies over Brissie last night as well with my mark1 eyeball Some high level clouds but transparency seemed to be very good. Too bad I was too dog tired to do any observing And it looks like we are going to get more rains starting today again...bugger. Hoping it will be fine at Ron's this weekend....

Not a chance of using the old scope here so I am reduced to living my observing life through others - feel a bit like Voldamort!!

Go Ron I had high hopes and brought out the scopes as the skies were clear late afternoon, but as soon as it darkened in rolled the damn cloud again

Last night was pretty good too until the clouds rolled in. Had a quick glimpse of 253 and 55 in Sculptor through my 15x70's and 47 Tuc and Mars through my lounge scope, the Orion 80ST on photo tripod

Weather report is not looking good at all for the weekend. Where did all these rains and clouds come from
