Talking Lies. Damned lies &...

....marketing copy!

Today's sample: "Chrome Frame renders the web of the future in the browsers of the past. It's like strapping a rocket engine to a minivan. "has stopped working". Awesome.

Other classics: "Easy open re-sealable pack", "No more backache. Ever!" and my personal favorite, "Non-stick. Lifetime guarantee".

Any you would like to share?

TENNIS BALLS from the 2 dollar shop.....don't bounce.....even the
dog feels cheated.

Bought the more expensive ones next visit...see above.
Bought the even more expensive ones next visit...see above.
Dog now disillusioned , lazy and putting on weight...owner same,
gave up tennis.

Garden hose from the 2 dollar shop.....kinks first use!
Embarrassing putting out a housefire when it does that.

Lawn now dead...thinking of ripping up lawn and laying some
concrete.....but I'd need the hose for that.

My favourite is

"Never pay anything ever again"

That's usually attached to something with the shelf life of 1 nano-second.

'works the upper and lower abs'
'no minimum to buy, cancel anytime'

'send it back for a full refund, (minus postage and handling) said quickly and quietly

' 4 easy payments'

'for a limited time only' usually around 3 months and then they sell the rights for the object, and there it is in the cheapo shop.

my fav 'a free set of steak knives!!!!'

I saw a hammer in the hardware shop with a huge statement written on the handle.

"Guaranteed forever!"

Who's going to be around to check...?

Yes, what about the ones where you get free stuff, well nothing in the world is free, one pays for it somewhere up the line.

"Self-watering planter box" Yes so long you keep adding the water to the base it will keep rising by capillary action to the roots.

That's right!

The technicallity of this is contained in the wording. It has to be the lifetime of the product. If this is not specified it will be just as long as it does last, 1 second or 100 years. The guarantee is still being honoured with out the supplier doing anything.

I always love the line "New and Improved!"

Errr, how can something be improved if it's new?

Love this one guaranteed with 24 hours of registering on a particular photographic website which claims "We will not divulge any personal details you may share with us" I start getting spam.
