Moistons! that explains everything. Thanks Scott, now I know that it is all scientific and not supernatural!
Paul..sadly I got a whole bunch of stuff, LX90, Eyepieces, LPI camera, Carry cases, Equitorial Wedge, dew shield, etc, etc. This was a second hand setup, but actually brand new. Through circumstances that would take a while to explain, the scope had been purchased 4 years ago but never used. So it has remained in its box all that time. Obviously Cardboard makes an excellent Moiston sheild.

Hi All, 
Who's do in' all the purchasing here in SEQ. Yesterday I checked the rain gauge 241mm in 8 days.
Has someone aquired a 30" mirror? We have had enough rain. cut it out!!
I can't drive onto my property for fear of getting bogged. (2 acres) It has happened. A few years ago I unwittingly drove towards the back fence to execute a U turn. the wheels sunk to near the axles. 
SWMBO, laughed. "Fancy getting bogged in your own back yard. Hee he ha ha! "

We do! there is not a lot of light pollution, some nights better than others, but if I travel about 30 minute north, its as black as the ace of spades....nice...

I am fairly sure Moistons work like FlyBuys... we just haven't figured out how to cash in on them yet.

OK ... who was it that has bought something BIG to lure a Category 5 cyclone Queenslands way?????
I just bought a rightangle finderscope from the US, but dont think that was it, as the cyclone is supposedly going to track south

Hi Liz,
Wasn't me. I bi'n good. Although I took Mr. 8 yr old Grandson to the Brisbane Panetarium yesterday.
We checked out the displays of Jupitor and Saturn. I explained such things as the "Red Spot", the rings, comparative sizes etc. Imediately he grabbed one of his friends and repeated all that I had said to his captive audience.
He has been prompting me to bring out the 200mm CST. But alas the curse is still active.
I wonder if we have a budding astro geek.

Yes, the curse certainly does continue  clouds galore, though is actually pretty fine here at the moment, but the clouds will roll in this arv.

Thankyou. Yesterday evening Mr. 8 yr old (unprompted) named off the solar system components in order starting from the Sun. I was astounded that he had it 90% correct. Even remembering the sequence of where the Asteroid Belt appears.
I have to get that scope out soon. I'll perform my anti-rain dance.
