XBox360 with Faulty DVD Drive

I recently purchased a used XBox360 on Ebay (it was advertised as having a faulty DVD drive, which was apparently damaging disks).
I have fixed this well known problem and it now plays DVDs fine but it won't play games.
When I put a games disk in, it comes up with a message saying that "this disk can only be played on an Xbox360 console" (??go figure???).

Anyway,it works very well as a media centre (you can connect it to your home network and stream movies / music / pics / etc) or play games that you can download from XBox Live.
Alternatively, if you're technically minded, perhaps it can be fixed?

It comes with console, power brick, ethernet cable, composite video cable, VGA video cable, 20Gb hard disk.

You can pick controllers up very cheaply from www.dealextreme.com.

I'm asking $175 +p&h.
I'll give it a week or 2 before I list it back on ebay.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt and Keenan,

FYI, I recently got my XBOX 360 console DVD drive replaced by a guy in Bondi called "Console Kingz" and he replaced the DVD drive (which wouldnt play ANYTHING) and it only cost $100. Its effectively a brand new XBOX now.

Sounds like someone replaced the DVD drive but didnt enter the XBox's serial number codes into the new one to get it to play games. That should be easy to fix (according to the conversation I had with the Console King)

Please note, I have no arrangement with this organisation, just thought I would spread the word about a company from which I received an excellent service experience.

I hope this helps you sell this Matt, or alternately, shows you how to fix it and keep it for yourself. As I said, I paid around $100 to replace the whole drive including labour, so yours "may" cost lest to have it coded properly, if the DVD drive is compatible with it.

Cheers

Chris

Many thanks Chris.
I'll give the XBox360 focums a go and if I have no luck, I'll call Console Kingz.
Cheers
Matt
