Meade microfocuser

Hy Everyone. I was wondering if you can attach a meade microfocuser to run through a computer (laptop) without going through the fork mount. I want to put a 12 inch meade on a Losmandi mount. I'm not sure if the Losmandi has a plug for an electric focuser. Thanks

You could make your own controller if you could figure out the voltage levels in use. In all likelihood it just pulses +/-12V or some such.

The Computer program that drives the Gemini controller has a focus controller using the Meade protocol.

This control is available at the Gemini from the feature socket. However a focus control board will need to be obtained to interface the focuser.

It may be simpler to build your own controller. The Meade focuser receives polarised 12v pulses from the handbox/processor via the phone jack on the control panel.

surely the meade would work through the Shoestring Adapters FSUSB control box? check out Bintel, I'm sure its only around $110 or such.

Cristian,
I use both the #1206 and the #1209 Zero shift focusers on a variety of Meade Lx models (8", 10" and 12" ) I normally use the SS FCUSB but also a controller I built from the MAPUG site. Now I have a handcontroller which can switch between them and give fast/ slow movements.
