I used the name of a song by my favourite band, and some of their art work as my avatar. When I settled on the name I thought 'that's cool and people will wonder where I got it from'. Well within a few days on IIS I found out that Ric knew where it came from and I've since found that a few other also recognise the reference (Les D certainly does). So I probably failed on both counts.

I wanted to come up with a web presence domain that was reasonably unique with some kooky spelling.

Yep, top movie and it has some funny lines and scenes too.
Loved the science lab scene when they blew up the sinks.

In the global company I work for there are 6 of me and at 3 with the same middle name. So... when you go to the Internet what chance do I have.

Tacked some roman numerals on the end and found that worked so I use it.

Michael.

Back when I first got internet access (around '96 or '97) I decided to try IRC chat, needed a nickname so chose the name of my favourite band, which is MrBungle.
It has kinda stuck with me ever since, tho now and then it's shortened to MrB.

Still my favourite band, and still my nick on IRC chat.
(Blatant plug: DALnet, #IceInSpace, come say g'day! )

Edit: about time I got an avatar

Mine comes from my previous pet. A rotweiller, ridgeback & German shephard mongrel dog named Theodore. (A little different from the current above)
Theodore was the nicest natured dog, great car alarm -16 before he moved to a higher leg lifting tree.

Mine goes back to my first modem, a 28.8 xstreama.
I needed an online irc chat name so used xstream, which does have a tendency to reflect my personality.

Mine comes from the area where I live. I'm 100% Aussie beef, no Greek blood whatsoever.

I get called Nettie, or jnettie by my sisters, but that name was taken when I first registered on the net, all those years ago. So I tried jnettie, that was taken, so I tried jjnettie, no good, as a last resort I tried jjjnettie, and it worked.

As my surname is Barker, one of many nicknames I have had is barx, along with Woof, Doggie, Prof, Sheeptruck (comes from baa-car, my younger brother was Lamb Van!). When i signed up for the internet years ago the username barx at my ISP was still available, which was great as a short username is a joy to behold. The 1963 is my year of birth, which I am thinking of changing!

mmm - dpastern - d is the initial of my first name (Dave, David or Davo, whichever you prefer, I'm not fussy), pastern is my surname. Other nicks I've been known by over the years are mrtheoden (goes way back to my Diablo/bnet days), based on theoden from the Lord of the rings, and neonmagic, which hails back to my IRC days around the same period (late 90s), when I used to play online trivia. I haven't used mrtheoden or neonmagic in a long while - I pretty use dpastern for everything these days. Not original, but I don't really care!

I loved the show
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolchak:_The_Night_Stalker

Darren Mcgavin imo was a good actor and many of his time knew it .
Never a big name ,pulled himself out of a hard life, raised a family , kept working his craft , grew old and passed on .
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darren_McGavin

Pretty honest roll of the dice for me

1963 was a fine year. One of the best. Don't change a thing.

Like Chris, mine was my CB radio "handle" combined with my age at the time I purchased my first computer. I used to drive around 'Penriff" in a black XB Falcon with BLOODHOUND printed across the windscreen, a six foot totem antenna off the gutter, topped with a real foxtail that I shot. I wore footy shorts and thongs and that was it. Dressing up meant putting on a flanny. To complete the picture I had a glossy sticker on the bumper that read, "Mafia Staff Car."

I was headed waaaayy down the wrong path at the time. Hopefully I am back on the right one by now....

Baz.
