color of jupiter

I have taken lots of photos of jupiter, the colors have been from brown to light blue and lots more.

My question is , if i was sitting on Io and looking at the surface, what color would it be?????????

Steve...

Wouldn't the photo's taken by Cassini and other probes be an accurate colour rendition?

I think they do a fair bit of fiddling with the colors

Pretty much the same as what one sees thru the telescope. The belts would be various shades of brown and orange, the festoons bluish and the rest of the cloud tops a cream or beige.

Steve,
What an absolutely fabulous question! I'll have to think about this one because of am uncertain of the answer. I agree because of the variety of colours seen on Jupiter it is hard to adjudge what the 'mean colour' is to be.
I would assume it would be based on the colour (colorimetry) of the principle chemical of Jupiter atmosphere, ammonium hydrosulfide.
Bit more thought required...
