Need help with astronomy book

O'K, so I have this book from Peterson Field Guides titled Stars & Planets.
The publication date goes back to 1991.

Not sure if anyone knows of these books but it is very informative and explains everything about Stars & Planets etc etc.

My question is, the book also has many many maps and altases of the skies.

Now this may sound silly, but is this book still current. Are the maps now out of date as the locations on these is what is important to me.

My assumptions and understanding, is yes, the maps and everything would be out of date but that the fotos and descriptions etc would not.

Am I better of just purchasing a newer version if it exists 18 years later?

Or, could someone recommend another type of book, remembering this was a 500+ handheld book.....

are there both sth & nth hemi maps provided? the planets/moon data will not be correct (if provided), but all the star maps don't change - so it doesn't matter how old the book is
