NGC 7331 eye popper

Today's APOD isn't too bad either!
3.5m F3.9 scope and a big ccd from Earth's surface.....

I like the Milky Way Cirrus showing through so well in 2hrs and 19min worth of exposure too

Phew!

Amazing!
It looks more like a piece of artwork than a real photo.

pwoah... 3500mm F/3.9 beats my 279 F/6.3

Just imagine what they could do if they pointed it at Jupiter!

That is a stunning shot, and proves the age old saying 'aperture rules'

Mike, it may only be 2hr 19min exposure, but 2hr 19min with 3.5m F/3.9 is more light than ~6hrs with 152mm F/6

Ive just imaged this galaxy and this photo just makes a mockery of what I was attempting to do. I need more aperture and several million$.

Don't worry, if I ever get a permanent observatory again and preferably under dark skies I'll have a crack, only need about 75 clear nights to do it

hmm? have I given Fred an idea...?
