M 104 by Hubble

A big file but well worth a look!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.astrofoto.es/Galeria/2008...4hst_7035.html

I thought it was image noise (made me happy ) then I realised it was the extensive outer halo resolved into stars!

That's quite amazing! I think this picture will lift any doubt about a thread that started 6 months ago or so with the same picture processed in registax showing a lot of details in the center portion of the disk. It actually looks like there's not much going in the center in terms of dust lanes. Thanks for sharing

Awesome image .... all those faint fuzzies in the background and so much detail in the dust lanes .... wow

It will be interesting to see what the James Webb scope comes up with .... HST will be a hard act to follow.

Here's a link to info on the replacement for Hubble

I've said it before, I'll say it again... Damn NASA and their budget..

UN-REAL!

Anyone who can, I highly recommend looking at it on a very large screen... I've been swiming in it for 15 mins or so on my 52" WOW!!!

Ah...yesssss..

Looked long and hard at that one before I submitted my M104 at CWAS

Of course it pales into insignificance with that HST shot, but also served as a great inspiration to milk every photon out of my system.

The swimming analogy is so spot on.....

The edge of forever....but it's only one of many forevers!.

Imagine the look on the NASA image processor's face when he did
the last 'process' click and that came out.
I bet he/ she felt like Howard Carter...'I see wonderful things'

Peter,

That is wonderful -- there is plenty of fine detail to be seen and there's a nice warm hue/tone throughout the bulge. Very pleasing.

Regards,
Humayun
