C/2007 N3 Lulin - 2 frame animation

Hi

I was out experimenting with the Canon 40D on Sat night and grabbed x2 frames of the region in Sagittarius where Comet C/2007 N3 Lulin can be found.

Each frame was a 5 min exposure through the 180mm F12 Mewlon with an x0.8 Reducer, giving an FR of 9.6. I have combined the frames to reveal the movement of Lulin over the short period of 5 mins (due to 5 min ICNR delay). The colour inset shows the view at the native resolution. It’s a bit of an “unclean” image as I didn’t take, or apply, any Flats.

There is also an animated gif of a cropped region around the comet showing the rapid movement.

Cheers

Dennis

Wow, great images Dennis. It really shows how fast this comet is moving over a short period of time.

You have managed to bring out a slightly blue colouring on the comet as well.

Very well done.
