Stellarvue SVED Nighthawk 80mm

Another new toy to play with but all clouds at the moment so haven't had a chance to star test but still nice to look at sitting on the mount with a big case thrown in with plenty of space to fill up. Drats another finger mark to polish off I wish they'd make this anodising mark proof.

Looks like a nice bit of kit Trevor, I've heard good things about Stellarvue 'scopes.

Cheers

Hi ! nice scope. I have the well corrected 80mm Nighthawk achro and that gives minimal CA. S.V. scopes are excellent quality. It has the clam shell and I have had trouble mounting it to my EQ3 - did you have any issues ? - you you use a Vixen dovetail ? did that mount OK on to the head ? I am considering using 2x tube rings. Are you happy with the set up you have ? or would you prefer tube rings ? A first night review would be interesting.

Came with the clam shell and a dovetail attached although I did order it with the rings, surprisingly on the SV web site the clam shell is more expensive than the rings. The dovetail supplied with it fits OK on my EQ5 so it should do so on an EQ3. If it becomes an issue I'll buy rings later or they may swap them over if I ask.

Looks like a nice scope Trevor. The EQ6 should carry both the 120 and 80 very well I would imagine. Now if only the clouds and moon would go away ...

First light look under images "Quick and nasty moon shot Perth", this is the first time I've looked and taken a photo through this scope. The seeing last night wasn't that good however a 3.2mm EP through the scope showed the moon of quite well
