American Sky and Telescope

I used to be able to buy this at a number of newsagencies but lately I've not seen hide nor hair of it, is it still being sold here.

I was able to buy it from the Caltex on the highway at Charlestown (who had both), been a while since I bought a copy (I usually buy only if there is something I want to keep and broused in the shop otherwize), but they closed last week (told to leave to make way for the expansion of Charlestown Square so I will have to find a new source , or maybe subscribe).

I have subscribed to both flavours of the mag for several years now and there is about a 30% overlap in content between them. You will get a shorter period between issues with the US one, but the Aussie version is about to increase its frequency shortly.

You could also check out "Astronomy", which has similar articles (but then again don't they all) and the same ads. I usually pick this up at the newsagents. In fact, when my US subscription runs out I might get this instead, that way I won't get the overlap with the Aussie mag. "Sky at Night" is interesting too, although it is usually a couple of months out of date by the time it gets here. It is interesting to see the very different style of the UK magazine compared to the US. It also has a CD which often has some interesting content.

Sky at Night

Trevor,
You are right about Sky at Night there is some good reading in their ,it’s a shame we don’t have someone like Patrick Moore doing 1 hour television show on astronomy in Australia letting the rest of Australian know what great night skies we have
