I think that was taken under those nice dark skies Peter was talking about ordering for his backyard in Sydney..?

You can order dark skies? Who sells them? How much?

Yes dark skies....Martins M16 is another fine example....nah..bugger fine....absolute ripper example.... of what can be done under them with a big scope.

I miss the relatively dark skies that I used to enjoy 'till about 18 months ago ... never mind I ain't dead yet and my observatory is quite portable ... I just have to wait for my lady to get sick of the bloody city !

Yep, Martin does some real good stuff and that is a ripper.

I was just amazed at the number of galaxies in that one shot that I posted the link to ... I mean I know they're there but WOW !

The resolution is just incredible! That aint got nutin to do with dark skies, and it's only a 12.5" after all....must have the RC colimated perfectly then add the adaptive optics unit and....
