Many of you may have seen this before, in fact id be surprised if there hasn't already been a thread about it, but i thought it was so cool that i had to share.
Tell me that that doesnt look like the death star!

Yep, it's always a fascinating image to see.

These types of images are the reasons why I love astronomy so much, and there is still so much more out there to see.

I used Paintshop Pro, aren't these programs wonderfull

(I just recently upgraded to a 150 reflector after using my 60mm refractor for the last 18 years. Wouldn't part with it, has given me so much pleasure over the years. Glad to see there's more of us out there.)

Hi,

Mimas is about 400 kM diameter. The Death Star had to be MUCH bigger, and even went supernova!!

Correction: there were TWO Death Stars. Amazing. I never knew. The first was 160 kM diameter.

I only saw the very first Star Wars movie and didn't like it, so I never watched any others.

Pretty sure the "little" Death Star (only 160Km diameter)was in the first movie, but since it wasn't your cup o' tea, probably don't remember it.
