Man that's cold! Should've been good to control the noise/amp glow from the ToUcam!
Yeah Mike, Noise was down a fraction from usual, but cold doesn't get rid of Amp Glow. Amp glow is caused by the electrical current near the CCD, not heat. The only solution is to turn the Amp off. An electronics nightmare to do it though.
Your right Ken it was a chilly one, but i only got to minus 2, so there is a hell of a difference with you only being 20 minutes away from me.
Ken when it gets that frosty i chuck a towel over the whole lot an just let it track with it on there, makes absolutely no difference to the setup, but dose keep all that moisture off the equipment

Cheers Leon
Pobably coz we are down in a valley Leon.
I tried the cloth over the gear once before and it froze to it
Ken, your story suggests it was colder than -2 deg early Saturday morning while I was still out at the Club site!! I just looked up the Ballarat temperature later that day!! No wonder the ice was so solid!

It was Saturday night that got down to -6.5, Eric.
But yep, Friday night was bad enough!!!! It was -3.1 on the thermometer when I got home.
Yes Ken, it must have dropped to -4 or so. When I realised that I had only 30 min or so until M31 rose, I sat in my comfy chair and looked at the stars - pretty tired by then - not noticing the cold, particularly. Glad I woke up again after 10-15 min. Would I have been the first amateur to be found dead inside an ice-block?? I also suspect that is not funny and is a risk - falling asleep in sub-zero temperatures, even if fairly well wrapped up.
Thats about the temp i call it quits! LOL When my toes freeze the rest of me follows.....
Thats why we say the fridges in Walcha are there to keep things warm! LOL
