Kick in the Crux!

Hi all,
Clear night last week so decided to try some Crux widefields.
Thought it would be easy, but it's taken a while to process these and still get nothing too flash! Oh well...

1. 50mm Pentax lens @ f2.8, iso400 10x30sec exps.
2. 135mm Pentax lens @ f5.6, iso400 10x30sec exps and CA+++.

Stacked in ImagesPlus,processed in PS.
Tried to "bloat" the main stars Akira Fuji style to focus on the cross.
Don't know if it looks realistic or not - shout out!!!

Cheers
Doug

Pretty good shots there Doug, nice going mate,

Just one question Doug, the F/No's on your lenses, is that right, 50mm at 2.8 and 135mm at 5.6, I cant recall seeings the Pentax lenses with those ratio's.

Cheers Leon

Hi leon,
Yeah, the figures are correct...that's the 50mm lens stopped down one click, 2 clicks on the 135mm lens.
I'm trying to get rid of the CA or coma or whatever the hell it is at the edge of the field of the 135mm by stopping it down more, but with little success!!
It's only really noticeable when you've got a big bright star at the edge of the field...like in the 2nd pic
All the best mate
Doug

Good one doug!!!! nice widefield shots!
I still have my 35mm and 50mm pentax lenses and I won`t part with them as they are soo sharp and work well on the canon...
the 135mm f/3.5 is pretty good with just a little CA but much less than the faster and newer pentax 135mm lenses as I had both and sold the fast one..
Cheers

ouch! not in the jewel sack!
very patriotic well done makes me want to stand up and sing the national anthem!
of all the dozen or so old pentax lenses we have collected over the years, the f2 85mm is the most impressive I have seen just try and find one, i dare ya! we have the old 80's pentax lens booklet, some interesting lenses were made then for sure
ps. so its you guys that appplying upwards pressure on these old pentax lenses eh!
