Jupiter swarmed!

Wow!!!

What a treat this morning.

Seeing was great, we had 3 moons doing their thing nearby.

This was the last of 30 AVIs recorded between 4.30 and 6am.

Quick run through Regi4.

Detail in the GRS, also on Ganymede just about to egress.

Europa has just exited the limb at left, while Io has emerged from behind the planet at upper right.

Plenty of nice white polar spots in this one and some nice detail in the equatorial belts.

Pretty sure there are better AVIs to get to.

Not sure about that Davo.

Managed to capture a few too many onions for my liking.

But cheers, mate

Not sure what else I can do to get rid of those.

The meter in K3 was reading 210.

I tried a few captures at 1/33 sec exposure, which forces you to push the gain a bit higher. That might be the trick. Up the gain and use faster shutter?

There are more AVIs to get to.

may not be your sharpest, but best "overall" ie composition, detail etc.....hopefully one of these will be one to print out and put in the pool room?

higher gain should help re onions

Yeah.

Definitely very happy with the composition, Dave.

I was watching it on the laptop screen this morning in awe.

It's just a real pleasure to out there on mornings like these.

Nice one Matt, I reckon there's a lot more detail to come out of even that avi if you do separate split processing etc.

Congrats and well done. I gave up at 5:45am, the EQ mount was about to do a flip and I needed to get to work to beat the traffic!

Cheers, Mike.

I'll give it a go. It's been a while since I did a split process.

I just did another process of a separate AVI.

During the Optimise stage I performed a Mitchell resample (1.3x)

It appears to have introduced some kind of strange artifact.

Is this cross-hatching?

How do I avoid it?

Cheers

Try 1.5x rather than 1.3, but it's always going to introduce some artifacts (I find).

Is it your first time with detail on Ganymede? You must be stoked! Great results.

I reckon there'll be plenty nice coming out of your data. Here's a simple split, LR deconv (2/1.1) and recombine in AstraImage. Nothing else done to it.

Some better colour balance and contrast adjustments could be done in Photoshop as well.

Great stuff!

Won't 1.5x make it even worse

No Mike. Have captured detail on Ganymede a couple of times before, but I don't think I've had the moons so crisply resolved as spheres before.

Am totally pumped!!!!

Hey matt, well done! I considered going out last night but was too tired, had a busy day yesterday. Maybe I'll try tonight if it stays clear...

cheers, Bird

What a beauty Matt, just love all those moons buzzing around and the GRS watching over them.

Very nice

Thanks Ric

I'm currently working on an animation from the 31 AVIs I captured that morning

It's a real labour of love

Never done an animation before. It's a challenge

Sounds great Matt, I'll be looking forward to that. I will have to have a go as well one day, I am keen to try Uranus or Neptune moving through the stars.

Cheers
