Bit of a shame

Last night was the first night in ages where the transparency looked pretty good.

No cloud... no bushfire smoke.

So set the 9.25 up to see if I could capture my first Saturn of the season.

Walked out at 2am and yes, you guessed it, the wind was blowing a gale

Ain't it always the way.

Ah well. Today's looking good and the jetstream map is shaping up very nicely for tonight

Yep i know what that feels like....friday night I had everything set up for DSO imaging balance perfect, polar alignment precise, guiding ticking along nicely all system go ....then the wind started to pick up from a slight breeze to a fully fledged gale Persisted until daybreak but most images where a right off , all that effort for nought

And don't you love it when dawn arrives and the wind drops away to nothing and it's a beautiful and calm sunny day

Matt, the night was absolutely beautiful here too - except for the galeforce winds. Spent the morning cleaning the courtyard and will try again with the scope tonight.

Cheers Petra

Matt - I am soooooo tempted to get up early for a Saturn fix. Also tempted to get the ToUcam out as well and have a go.

Could be good now that the wind has dropped down considerably.

Cheers Petra

I'm no expert Petra, but it is looking promising

We haven't had a really good night in such a long time, but I've just got a bit of a feeling tonight could be a goodie.

But if anyone's got some inside mail to the contrary then perhaps they could share?

Cheers

Sorry to hear Ving.

Hope you're feeling better soon. At least you can be sure the sky will be there when you are
