New scopes blues didnt happen

Well Xmas is finally here
Had to wait 6 weeks to finally unpack my 8' Dob and watched you guys say about the new equipment cloudy night blues and lo and behold clear skies for me ......... couldnt believe it ............ two weeks of cloud and it clears tonight .
Took about a hour or so to set the base up then spent about a hour to collimate (think i got it right) then we had to go to the outlaws for xmas dinner . After 3 hours of constantly lookin at my watch and lookin out the window dreading the clods to take away the beautiful cloudless night the wifey finally said " you ready to go home"? hell yes !
Anyway stars lok pretty crappy but the moon WOW ! even the young kid said " sick " ! lol. So anyway got no idea what to look at till tommorrow and i get the planisphere and a few books and the binoclaurs i got the family to buy but im mighty impressed

Gonna have to take the scope to a dark area to see what this bugger can really do

Many thanks to the moderators and members in here for all your help. You guys have been absolutely fantastic

I look forward to sharing this wonderful hobby with you all and a very merry Xmas to you and your familys

Steve

Excellent Steve, glad you had clear skies.

Sounds like you'll have a lot of fun with the new scope.

Onya mate.

Glad to see the heavens opened up for you in the good sense and you had a great night.
The cloud gods probably thought you waited long enough and let you off

Cheers
