great new feature in firefox 2

hi all

i found out about a cool new feature in firefox 2 this morning

a late night power failure turned off the old pooter

i had a lot of web pages open overnight and lost the lot (or so i thought)

so i turned it back on and loaded an new web page and a message came up and said that firefox 2 was shut down unexpectedly and asked if i wanted

to restore my session or not, so no more hunting thru the old history to find all the sites

thought id share this little titbit, brilliant in my opinion

Firefox. Is there nothing it can't do?
It's such a great product. Free. And much faster than that other browser. It amazes me that it still only has a ~19% market share. Even with Google pushing it.

You have to hand it to the Mozilla crowd - Firefox and Thunderbird, easily the most used software I have, and the best, and the cheapest..... If you aren't using Firefox, have a look at it - you won't turn back (to IE especially) if you try it.... www.mozilla.com

Well just to throw a spanner in the works. Tried it a few times and I'm still not keen on it. To each his own I guess. But I'll keep trying to see what all the fuss is about.

Paul, I remember you saying that before. As a matter of interest what specifically about Firefox aren't you keen on?

It seems to take longer to load for me, it used to choke on some java and other web based animations. After using IE for so long I found it "counter intuitive" to use. I know where and how to adjust various settings in IE, with Firefox I'd have to go searching for the setting I wanted, if I wanted to change things (like getting the damn thing to fit on the screen and not have to scroll all the time, that used to get really annoying).

And while I can appreciate how the tabs would be useful, it used to drive me nuts when a new tab would open, I'd read it, and being raised on IE I'd click the close in the top right of the page instead of closing the tab, and lose the browser. I just didn't have the patience to get used to it or find how to turn that feature off.

I did like to use the download manager though.

I have been using Opera for a few months now and am very happy with it.
Saw a demo from the latest IE (Vista) and it looks like the copied some of these features as well!

Gotcha. Yep, java pages take longer to load the first time. When java is loaded, any other java page is quick. Firefox loads non-java pages faster. Much faster. When I have to test changes here in IE, I can't believe people use it. IE waits for the entire page to load before it displays it. Firefox displays the page as it loads.

To each their own, ay.

Hmm... I used to like Firefox - and especially after v2.x was released. Then I came across IE7 on Vista. I'm a Unix head, so it's very hard for me to say..... it's very n...n....nnnn......nice.
