Equipment Repair

Hi all,
I want to make a big shout out to IIS member Ken Harrison! (Merlin66)

I recently purchased a spectroscope on IIS and found it needed some repair work after transport.
The scope was one that Ken Harrison designed some 13 years ago, a Spectro L200.

When I contacted him about the damage, Ken graciously offered to have a look and make any repairs as required. I did purchase the vital part and Ken installed it and calibrated the spectroscope before sending it back to me.

many thanks to Ken for his time and willing help

regards
Mark Dawes

Really nice that members offer expert help to others. It’s a real community service. I can say costs are never fully recovered and it’s more a labour of love. I applaud members going things like this! Makes it a backbone of our small society “pay it forward “ is the greatest thing that is self rewarding

Biggest thrill and most rewarding in my career was formally teaching. I got to work with this I taught to take them from unknown to great technicians. That’s was the reward. And made me look good from a well oiled workshop
