When the eye is in the sky, you just cant beat listening to music and maybe have a drink or 2.

Pink Floyd for me too Daniel. I guess that's showing our age. Dave Gilmours' solo on Comfortably Numb can't be bettered.

The silence at midnight is pretty good under the stars, with just the owls and the creek and the midnight coal train. Hey, I could make that midnight Coltrane.

music

I listen to a lot of podcasts, but recently have been enjoying The Claypool Lennon Delirium, who also cover some floyd, and yes that guitar solo is brilliant.
I am a fan of guitar solos- not the twiddle per second Ywingie type stuff, more the melodious.
Two favourites -
the guitar solo in "I don't want it" from the album Quebec by Ween-great tone.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoAJolzI5Ms
And "impossible Germany" by Wilco
on this they look like a bunch of Dads rockin' out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBpDs-BfwO0

My Morning Jacket - Dondante, incredible live guitar work- saw them in Sydney and had to leave the next day very early to get back to work in Tas, worth it though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3MZOGqe18Y

(though I do still love listening to Stevie's work on old Zappa albums!)
Sorry for hijacking thread, got a puppy so up all night last night and a bit frayed now!!

For me it is ABC classic FM playing in the observatory. The only time I might change it is to listen to the cricket.😀

Thanks Graham for the great links, and speaking of memorable concerts, May 18th 1973 Earls Court London. Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, unforgettable. Has to be my favourite concert amongst many.

My tastes vary so widely it's hard to say, but if I'm out in the forest, I like to have *something on to keep the 'rustles in the bushes' at bay. I've come across some scary-big wild boars out that way. I want them to know I'm there. Or maybe it's just wombats. Or Roos.

I have to agree with both of these, depends on the mood I'm in. I'm a big fan of classical with a little light jazz / blues guitar on occasion, but sometimes, the silence is what makes it worth it - the chance to turn off the mobile and forget about the day to day cares for a while.

I do have to give an honourable mention though to "The Music of the Night" from Andew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...

Slowly, gently night unfurls its splendor
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night

Seems appropriate somehow.

Silence with a liberal sprinkling of burnouts and circle-work at nearby intersections here in Belconnen. It really grounds and centres me.

It just goes hand in hand, visual with audio. Thanks for the insights people I think we can all argree that whether its nature/burnouts/music/silence ect, between the subs its always nice to just relax to. Even though I'm a 80s kid I love all the old stuff. A little jazz to is perfect 👌

Occasionally there is a bustle in the hedgrow. But not a spring clean for the May Queen . Just a small digging neighbour who keeps booby trapping the yard around my tripod. Loves the lemon tree roots I think.
