The silence at midnight is pretty good under the stars, with just the owls and the creek and the midnight coal train. Hey, I could make that midnight Coltrane.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, but recently have been enjoying The Claypool Lennon Delirium, who also cover some floyd, and yes that guitar solo is brilliant.
I am a fan of guitar solos- not the twiddle per second Ywingie type stuff, more the melodious.

Thanks Graham for the great links, and speaking of memorable concerts, May 18th 1973 Earls Court London. Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, unforgettable. Has to be my favourite concert amongst many.

My tastes vary so widely it's hard to say, but if I'm out in the forest, I like to have *something on to keep the 'rustles in the bushes' at bay. I've come across some scary-big wild boars out that way. I want them to know I'm there. Or maybe it's just wombats. Or Roos.

I have to agree with both of these, depends on the mood I'm in. I'm a big fan of classical with a little light jazz / blues guitar on occasion, but sometimes, the silence is what makes it worth it - the chance to turn off the mobile and forget about the day to day cares for a while.


I do have to give an honourable mention though to "The Music of the Night" from Andew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...

Occasionally there is a bustle in the hedgrow. But not a spring clean for the May Queen . Just a small digging neighbour who keeps booby trapping the yard around my tripod. Loves the lemon tree roots I think.
