Full-Moon viewing

This may sound like a dumb question, but is there any way/trick to getting a better look at DSOs when there's a full moon out? I'm asking cuz I'm finding galaxies and the like pretty near impossible to see during those periods..

Yes. Get the clouds out of the way!

Seriously, the Moon is like light pollution, except it's all broadband. Narrowband filters can help with nebulae, but nothing will help with galaxies afaik.

Give the DSO's a miss during the full moon. If you must observe try the planets and brighter double stars.

You could try some of the better globular clusters and open clusters as well. But faint nebulosity, comets and majority of galaxies, forget it. All dso astronomers turn into werewolves during the week either side of the full moon and howl at it.

Just roll over and don't try to observe galaxies and nebulae during the birghter moon period. The results will be disappointing and you will just get frustrated. Instead, go for the double stars, planets and the moon.

With the current weather in Melbourne, the full moon presents no problem at all. We haven't seen it for at least 3 days...mind you haven't seen anything else
