Unhappy Week of Hell!

This has had to have been the worst/hardest week of my life to-date..

Started last Saturday when my wife Kate started getting flu symptoms.. Turned into a bad chest infection, bordering on pneumonia..

I wasn't able to go to work all week - had to stay at home, look after Kate and the kids, do the running around with the kids, get them ready for school and pre-school, take them, pick them up, cook, clean, etc.

Gave a real insight into how the "other half" normally lives Not easy, I can tell you.

Kate started improving by Thursday night, but then my almost-2-year old daughter Abbey picked up a stomach bug from somewhere and vomited 5 times in the space of a few hours late at night.. more cleaning!

Luckily the stomach bug appeared to pass through Abbey after that, and she was fine the next day. Kate continued improving and we actually went out on Friday night to Terrigal, had fish and chips at the beach etc. Things looking up.

We were due to go to my parents place at Bellingen (near Coffs Harbour) over the Easter weekend (leaving on Saturday), but we had to postpone that at least one day. Because everyone was improving we thought we'd be able to leave on Sunday, and stay 2 nights instead of 3.

But then last night was the clincher.. the stomach bug that got Abbey, got the rest of us.. all of us (except Abbey) vomiting all night last night, sometimes 3 of us at the same time!

Eliza has still vomited a couple of times today, but the rest of us are just tired and worn out. We must've done 30 loads of washing in the last few days.

Anyway so of course we couldn't go up to my parents place, that's been cancelled this time around.. such a great Easter we're having!

I'm due to go back to work this week, knowing i'll have sooo much to catch up on.. but as long as everyone is well! It'll be like a holiday going back to work! Can't wait

Anyway just thought I'd share my tales of woe! I haven't gotten anything done this last week. What a nightmare!

That sounds like something my wife would say. My commiserations, mate. Looking forward to getting back to work this week, no doubt?!

Glad to hear Kate is feeling better. Hope I don't get what you guys got!

Ahh the joys of being a father when everyone is sick. How I remember it well. My commiserations mate. It's never easy. I'm glad everyone is on the mend for you.

FWIW my advice is if you are able to carry a few more sick days, take the extra time off and fully recuperate. Don't go back to work until everyone is fully recuperated, not just "feeling" better. Have some "we're getting better" family cuddles time.

Mike,

Wait till everyone is well and in good working order then sell the lot of them on Ebay.

No one should have to go through that....lol

Good advice Paul.

Mike, hope you guys fully recover.

Even after you went through all that you still managed to take some magic shots at Terigal.
Well done.

You poor bloke. It's hard yakka looking after a sick family.
Sounds like you did a great job with it though.
Get well soon.

Been there and done that many years ago Mike, know how you feel. It's so hard with the little ones. An Easter to remember for years to come.
