Hi, Me again. Seem to be asking a lot of questions at the moment. I am going to at least try and go for the horsehead. My understanding is that I need a H-alpha filter, aperture, good seeing, dark sky and a map.
In regard to the filter, are they all the same because Ive seen some cheap ones and because it will have limited use pretty much only on the horsehead, I would rather get it as cheap as possible. Is a cheap filter going to lower my chances of observing this target? Ive seen a baader on on ebay or $99 has anyone used this on the horsehead?
The Lumicon web site has a lot of useful info on filter selection for various objects hence the link I provided. In saying so though I do like the Lumicon narrowband filters.
Lumicon has been making such filters before some of the other companies even existed and they provide a very good product. However that does not mean other filters on the market are inferior. I have not looked through a Baader filter.
