WIFI Problems Toshiba Tecra A8

Hello My old Toshiba Tecra A8 Failed . I reninstalled windows XP-The WIFI dose not Work -I went into Cotrol panel - System - Hardware - Device manager - Newtwork Adapters- I dose not show any Wifi Adapter setup just Intel pro desktop Connection - What can I do to get in going - Reguard's Tony

Also make sure the wifi adapter is turned on, all the Toshi's I've seen have a mechanical switch to disable bluetooth & wireless.
Check in the device manager to see if there is any incorrectly installed hardware, the wifi adapter may be shown there as an unknown device with the usual yellow question marks against it, but won't function untill the correct driver is installed. There may alsombe other incorrectly installed devices upon which the wireless depends. If you have trouble getting the correct driver, the VID/PID in the device properties will give an idea of what the device is, google search for that ID and you should find a description of the esact hardware.

Go back to the device manager and recheck, if you haven't got a device unknown or otherwise right click and scan for new devices.

Thanks very Much for your help - It works now - There was one there witha couple of others -The unkown one was the Wifi - I clicked on install and it got downloaded the file-I have my sound back as well -by installing a driver for it-I tried earlier on but It did not seem to go online to get it -I deleted my old antivirus -and downloaded AGV free - and the downloads started to work -plus the Updates were trying to download as well too much at once - Everything is working OK now -Many Thanks - Tony.
