Moon, Jupiter, Mars and Mercury rising over Brisbane city this morning
Hi all,
A beautiful clear morning in Brisbane today, so I got up early and captured a sequence of images as the Moon and 3 planets rose over Brisbane. A great way to start the day!
The first image is a stack of exposures taken every 3 and a half minutes, and the second is a single exposure. All exposures were 4 seconds with my Canon 50D and 15-85mm lens at f/5.6 and 400 iso.
Brilliant, I love it - I have so many questions!
What's causing the increasing earth glow on the moon as it rises?
Where was the photo taken? not Mt Cootha?
Thanks very much Trevor! Yes, I'm glad I got up for it.

Thanks Mike! It was a perfect morning, but I seemed to be the only one out enjoying it.

Thanks Michael! I forgot to mention the location: this was from the top of Kings Rd in Taringa. Wrong time of year to get the planets over the city from Mt Coot-tha.
I think the increasing earthshine on the Moon is a combination of two things. Firstly the Moon is brightening as it rises through the haze near the horizon, and secondly the twilight glow is masking it.
