Thank you Graham, fantastic images - and welcome to IIS. Who'd have thought you'd see this on Australian soil? Members of our astronomical society claim to have seen aurorae south west of Sydney several years ago so I guess if the conditions are right, they're right! I envy your experience.

Loved your photo's Graham ,I wish I could have seen them in real time .
Chris there was an aurora seen over Brisbane in 1989,I saw it from Burpengary as a red glow in the sky, and thinking it was from a fire in Brisbane took no notice only to be informed the next morning as to it's true identity
Cheers

Unbelievable, and quite beautiful. You can imagine what folks in previous centuries would have made of these. Thanks for the post.

What an absolutely great set of images. You are lucky to have witnessed this event. Those images of the reflection on the lake/river are just awesome

Any photographic pointers for shooting the aurora?
The view from my place was quite good but lacked colour, perhaps I'll do better to photograph it.

EDIT: On second thoughts, it's only 9:00PM and it's -1° so I won't be going outside.
