Believe it or not, the Apollo 11 crew had to complete immigration documentation after their return from the moon in 1969 - and here's the image to prove it.

That wpould be only minor. Think of the trouble they must have had on the moon finding someone to collect the departure tax and stamp the passports.

During Mercury Wally Shirra also attempted to claim for mileage on his income tax but the US Government replied to him with the cost of the Atlas rocket.

Also Grumman (who built the Lunar Module) sent North American Rockwell (builder of the Command Module) a bill for towing the crippled CM home on Apollo 13 at a cost of approx $300k. NAR replied with the fact that their CM's hauled the LM to the Moon on Apollo 10-12.

Case closed, your Honour. That was of course a joke between the two top aerospace contractors at the time.

On my first trip to the USA in the 80s the customs guy in San Francisco that processed me made a joke. It's never happened again, so perhaps ones with a sense of humour are now extinct!
