Talking Any open lens nights?

I was hoping someone might know of any upcoming events where people who may be interested in astronomy and about to select a telescope can go and try out a few different types of telescopes.

I really want to try some of the celestron telescopes that are sold in the Aus Geographic stores. I don't know if they are the best or not but from the features and what i understand of them they look pretty good.

Or if anyone would be willing for me to come and try their telescope it woudl be awesome.

Hi Pike.

YES. There are plenty of us who meet regularly and welcome anyone who wants to look at / through their scopes. Tonight is planned for such a meeting (weather dependent).

But where are you located, and how far are you willing to travel?

You can get an idea of where a few are by checking out the Star Parties ... Forum on here.

Hope to see you soon if you are near the "Pony Club"

Thanks for the replies guys, i knew i had forgotten to do something and i guess that was update my profile. I'm in Sydney, near Ryde.

Unfortunately the pony club is a little far for me to travel on short notice, but maybe sometime soon when my schedule (other half) permits.

There are several clubs in and around Sydney / Wollongong.
In my experience most astronomers are more than happy to experience their scopes. If you are ever down this way and want to see a goto dob just send me a message.

If you're quick, the AG shop at Hornsby had 30% off their Celestron floor stock yesterday, I guess until sold.

I can see why AG @ Hornsby (or elsewhere) can afford 30% off: I saw a Celestron 6SE in an Adelaide AG outlet for $2999 yesterday - I bought one from the Oz distributor 18 months ago (before the Oz dollar bulked-up) for $1999 (30% less).
