My Chrissy Present

Pick up my TV Ethos 10 mm on Tuesday for an early Christmas. Should fit in nicely with my Pan and Nag. I am very eager to try it out in my 12" SW, that it once that moon wanes some more.

Only 2 sleeps to go.

Picked up the eyepiece on Tuesday morning, had to go to work in the arvo, so left it on the table, hoping to try it out later that night. Got home around midnight - drats, wife had wrapped it up and put it under the christmas tree. Just as well its been cloudy since.

One sleep to go, then ...

Merry Christmas and clear skies to all

Rod, it will make Christmas day all the more exciting! Good on your wife . One more sleep to go...

I got a digital voice recorder for visual observing that I haven't opened yet due to poor weather, therefore it's since become my xmas present . And I bought myself an early xmas gift of binos and two way red light torch, happy xmas to me falla lala la la la la la . I believe we should all buy ourselves christmas gifts, regardlesss of what everyone else gets us. That way there is a safety net to fall back on when all the other pressies disappoint -just in case, you just never know now do you .

Merry Christmas, Rod.

Clear skies in Melb last night. Finally got to try my Chrissy present - Ethos 10mm. I was really concerned that it would not live up to its hefty price tag, but it did. M42, 47 Tuc, Jupiter even Uranus, NGC253 Sculptor GX, NGC2070 Tarantula Neb, M50 and NGC 2362 Mexican Jumping Star and then back to M42 (several times). Apart from fuzzy the blue ball of Uranus, the detail, clarity and wide views were fantastic. Used with my 2x Powermate, Jupiter was enormous, clear and colourful with the big red spot clearly seen. I did notice some coma around the edges, but it was not a distraction. This will probably be the most expensive eyepiece I will ever purchase, but I can't wait to try it out again and again and again.
One happy star gazer.

Rod

PS - My enthusiasm is tempered by those in FNQ - hope alll you guys get through OK.
