I was going to get one of these OWL Astronomy items off the internet for my Skywatcher MAK80, F=1000, D=80.
What you you recomend I get out of the two or are they both dodgy, Im only new to astronomy and im a bit straped for cash so I am not prepared to pay $40-50 including postage. 2X Barlow 1-1/4 inch

While not certain, I think that these are made by GSO (for Owl) and if this is so, I would expect them to be simlar (same) to the ones you can get from Bintel (and others) locally...
Although not 100% on the GSO=Owl statement, I thought I read that some time ago...
I think the info above is correct, as far as I can see, Owl pretty much look like re-badged GSO's. Personally, I would rather go and have look at them at Bintel and seek advice from thereon. For what it's worth, you might be able to get something on sale, ex-demo, conditional on trying it at home first, or in the very least try them out on the shop floor to see if you like them. Fox

In which case I'll caution you against getting such a short focal length plossl. They are very hard to see through and if getting a barlow you wont need to go so short. You are much better off to get say a 10 or 12mm plossl and use the barlow to achieve the higher power.
PS. I agree with Geoff - though I would try and find a good barlow - apochromatic - there is a celestron ultima in the classifieds section I think it is over $100 though
