Dome shutter motorisation.

I sent this message to the local Astronomical society and I thought I would post here too, just incase anyone has some ideas to throw around...

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone has drawings or a diagram of how the shutter
motorisation works on Observatory domes ? I want to do something
similar to the big ones but on a smaller scale but just need the rough idea on how it works.
The idea I need is mainly a diagram of the way it opens and closes by the
use of a motor.

Any help appreciated.

My shutter slides back over the dome incase you were wondering.

Just a quick update,

I found the website below. I have most of the parts available to me so will work on this. Only on a smaller scale.

Just incase anyone is interested, I got 12m of Bike chain today aswell as a shaft and one sprocket and two bearings and housings. So well on my way for Automating my shutter.

Just have to get 3 more spockets another shaft and two more bearings and housings, then I can start installation.
