Signature on IIS

I noticed that if you change your signature then all your previous posts are updated with the new one. I think this is a shame, because many people list their equipment in their signature, and it would be interesting to compare gear in old posts to current ones.
Anyone agree? (If not, please let this thread die quietly...)

See your point Morton, but I'm not sure on this one, never really thought about it.

It is the same on all forums on the net.

If you want to overcome it then you can add a sig manually after each post, without using the sig feature.

Didn't realise that. Figured it was attached at the time of posting and wouldn't change afterwards.

Oh well, time to kill the thread!

One more comment - think about the storage needed to keep your then signature, avatar, etc. at the time of every post, with every post, rather than having the current stored in one place and just looked up each time the system is asked to display a post from you. It's the difference between what I'd call a transaction database and a current status database. Transactions need a lot more effort and storage to retain and display. IT guys, please excuse the musings of a manager-type, ex-chemist!

Yeah, it could be a pain typing in what you have at the time and keep changing it.

I currently have a GS12" dob but I mount it in a Big EQ mount, an ED80, etc etc

Yes, and by your new sig Richard, I see you have made to leap to Megrez 90! Nice scope.
I took delivery of the FLT today. It's very nice!
