Ha and OIII in the SMC

Good evening.

Surprisingly faint are the Ha and OIII emissions in the SMC. 18 hours of exposure with the RH305/STXL16200.

Link to a larger version on the page.

Absolutely love it Martin! This is on my to-do list for this year! Just waiting on one more adapter and I'll be my early morning target

Given me a bit of a benchmark to work towards.

A very intriguing image. You've brought out some wonderful detail there that is normally hidden.

Greg.

Just as a matter of interest Martin, what length subs were you using here? Great image of course.

Hi Martin
Now that's a stunner. SMC is full of interesting Ha and Oiii stuff and your image does a great job of bringing it out.

Was looking at the scope on the AP site, tempted to get on that list.

The link to the big image though takes you back to the Barnard image you posted the other day. Mayneed an update?

Cheers

Thanks David for letting me know about the link. Will get that fixed.

If you are indeed interested in one of these scopes you should register your interest with AP as it is a LONG wait (as it is for most of their scopes). I registered in Oct 10 and took delivery in Nov 16.

Cheers
Martin

A slightly belated well done Martin - I've been rather distracted lately! I'm not often taken with bi-colour images but this one is beautiful and interesting. A compelling image! I'm looking forward to imaging the region in close-up myself one day and this gives me a good map to work from.
