OK, I have downloaded Desire & Registax (the zipfiles opened!!!)

Do I also download 'ai25max' or 'neatsetup' or both?

EDIT: Doesn't matter, I will download all of them just in case I need them

desire for long exposure imaging as opposed to Phillips VRecord
Registax for the stacking of your video images
ai25max for the what i was doing to asimovs mars pics
neatsetup for cleaning up noise in images

desire controls the toucam so that it leaves the shutter (so to speak) open for as long as you require.

so you can tell it to take 100 x 15 sec images, or 10 x 100sec images etc

it only works with the modified toucam

all you do is much around and do your thing in astral image and then take a screen shot ie hold shift key down and at the same time press Prnt Scrn.

open up photoshop and start a new document and then paste the screen shot.

it gets around this disabled feature of astral image

my pleasure!

i gave the scope a go tonight with the collimation. the secondary was better and my focus was better for the toucam. also i frigged around on gamma 2 delphinus and asitares trying the star test. when it does go to focus, the stars are not perfectly round as they get close to focus, there are little tails.

anyway, stuff for another thread another time, but thanks for stuff you emailed, it helped a lot!

well done mate, it will be a lot of fun at snake valley, if we can get some access to some scopes that track, then we can test the modified bit of the toucam.

i will have my laptop at the camp, so we can take your toucam anywhere and have a play. back to the hut for recharging the batteries and we can process what we have imaged.

i will get around 3 to 4 hours on the laptop at a sitting as it has a second battery.

a long 22 days i can tell you.

this will simply be a fantastic few days!

22 days, cooool!

Hasn't your Toucam got the Long Exposure mod?

My computer guy told me today he can get me a lappy suitable for the Toucam for around $300.

I just spent every cent I have (and borrowed some) on my new car. I pick it up tomorrow!!!! Hooray, transport.

we will go on a road trip and pick up old grumpy from port lincoln (he has 8 weeks of clouds) and bring him and his lovely bride back to the camp. oh yes and the 12.5" blue veined nebula pumper.

make sure you computer guy gets u a good battery for the laptop and maybe even a spare. batteries on th eolder models seem to degrade quite quickly after a few years use.

if you are running on battery, then you would want at least 2 hours, as there is always some frigging about as you know!

I can't get a lappy from him. No money left after buying the car.

Who's 'old grumpy and his bride' at Port Lincoln? And where's Port Lincon?

EDIT: Oh, it's John!
