While on the topic of star elongation, I would have thought the purpose of the coma corrector is to eliminate such across the field? I'm interested in acquiring one do you recommend it?

A coma corrector will fix the corners, which is where coma is worst on fast scopes. The Baader MPCC MKIII comes highly recommended by most people, including me. (My elongation is not from coma)
