This not a very good pic but I am posting it because I would like to know what the moons are that appear to be in the pic. If anyone would be so kind as to name them I would be most pleased.
I have also noticed that with my LCD monitors I can see more detail in pics if I stand up and look at the screen from above (looking down on an angle at the screen).

I agree it is really crappy, you only have a great 30 degree cassini division, you have also captured the electrical storm, 5 moons, oh and yes great colour.

Nice shot Portmac. Not sure which moons you've captured there?

Tell us the time you were imaging and we can check with Starry Night. Sure someone will come thru with info shortly.

Yeh we need to know the date/time of your capture to ID the moons. But i'm quite sure the big one under is Titan.

This is a great shot, and one of the few I've seen showing the great white spot storm feature that's only recently appeared - well done!

Did you capture the moons in the same shot or is it a collage?

Anyhow my appologies for not posting the rest of the info about the image, I know I hate it when looking at space pics and there is no info about the scope/pic etc. In furure I will remember to add all the details.

Scope: Meade 8' LX90
Camera: Meade LPI with 2x barlow
Time taken: aprox 12am - 1am
Date 19th Feb
Location: Port Macquarie

The pic was from a processed AVI that was captured with K3CCDTools, duration was 1m 40sec. Processing was done in Registax using davidpretorius' guide and the pic was also resampled.
In total I have about 5GB of images/AVI's from the one night/morning, did Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and poked a little of the moon
Mars, Jup and the moon was just to play around and learn some more about using the camera and software (Autostar Envisage and K3CCDTools).

A bitmap (1.1MB) of the image can be found at www.portmac.com/Sat_0001.bmp, it appears to show another moon that this not evident in the JPG.

It was all done in the one shot (AVI).
