WOW, what a great night. All the indicators showed overcast so I volunteered to drive the boy across town for a function, yet it was clear all night. What the !!!
I snapped a few 434 shots between rosetta NB shots so I'll post them.
Top shots Robyn. Love that Rosette - will you be doing any more on it? I was totally undecided about setting up, but in the end piked out and believed the forecasts rather than chance it must confess. Was too tired after misbehaving night before too truth be told.
Good on you for making the most of it. Looks like won't be any clear skies for at least a week now
I was outside last night too, but I spent the whole night playing with new gear (Atlas, AO and a zillion adapters) so I only have a handful of Lum and Ha test shots to show for it.
Rosetta will need lots lots more Rob. There's only a couple of O3 and S2 in that and it looks like they need to be 20minutes a sub It doesn't get above the hedge out back till around 10pm at the moment which is why I snapped the horse.
You get everything working Ric? I got a feeling it's going to be a wet xmas.

Hardware all appears to be working, Robin. I spent most of the night finding the right combinations of adapters to allow me to reach focus in four different configurations (two scopes with and without reducers). I still need to fight round two with FocusMax and Maxim...
I like the Rosette Robin - could be damaging to my wallet seeing nice narrow band images like that - I prefer that colour mapping.
Agree with your predictions about the weather. Not looking too good for the eclipse this weekend...
Rick - reducers seem to be like having a baby - you don't know what you're going to get until it arrives and then it takes a lot of trial and error to get the desired result.

Reason: Clarity
Not so much work nettie, more like camped in front of the telly with a bouron and a cigar with 1/2 eye on the obs desktop being remote displayed on the lappy

Don't you have a Ha filter Dave? That's were to start, they cost the most.

Don't think we'll see much data collecting going on for a while Paul. Looks like the rain starts tomorrow and continues for at least a week.

Yes, I've got a 5nm Ha which gives great results. I think the others are the same price unfortunately. Tossing up whether I'll get 5 or 3nm ones for SII & OII after reading the article on the Astrodon website.
The framing of the horsehead in the FS-60 is just marvelous. I've got the FS-60CB, and will likely get the Q upgrade for it, and, then, stick the STL on it for a bit of a joy ride. Should be good.
That Rosette has the hallmarks of being something great. I'd love to see you put more time into that!
Both those subjects are a real treat to view Robin and I really like the NB rosette, a real cracker. Hope your wrong about the weather but an observatory let's you make the most of the smallest clear break. I'll have to get the NB filters out now as you have stirred me up.
I cropped a bit off the top but with your reducer and that big 550D sensor yours would be wider still.

Mine are all baaders so I think they are 7nm Ha and 8.5nm for the other two. Baaders where in my price range and it seems I now have both a 36mm and a 2" set here

Doesn't that Q add on push the scope to 600mm and F10. There's a flattener for sale here That makes it F6.2 and 380mm

It seems rare to see a clear sky lately, there seems to always be that high thin cloud screwing with images when I'm set up to go. Get your NB filters onto that 10" GSO and have a go at the helmet or M1. You should be able to bin x2 with that scope to suck in the photons and still get a respectable result.
