EOI Magellan Observatory " Time Share "

Thought I would see if there's going to be any interest in people using the Observatory and Accommodation we have here .
For those who are unfamiliar with what we have here , its a 3 bedroom house ( sleeps 7 ) on 50 Hectares with the observatory a short walk away which has an excellent 24" F3.6 SDM scope with servocat , argo etc etc in a 4 meter dome . A lot of other stuff up there but it gives you an idea .
I realise that most people prefer to rough it and camp out with there own equipment . but this way you have spouse friendly accommodation and exclusive use of the scope .
Thinking of prices from $1000 to $2000 per month all inclusive.
Be good to find out what people think before I just lease out the house.

Thanks
Zane

I know that MAS are always keen to go there for weekends Zane, but I'm guessing you want to lease the place to parties who are interested in somewhat longer tenancy.

Good to see it potentially in use again. To those who have never been there, it's a fantastic facility - for observers and imagers alike.

A big hug to Fiona please...

Thanks Chris
Yes at this stage I'm a bit over the weekend rental thing and having to hover over people all night to make sure they know what there doing .
I'd rather teach a few people who I can trust how to use the gear and they can come and go as they please.
If people have access to the place for a month or 6 weeks at a time they can come down from Sydney at whim when the and away they go not having to load up a huge scope and all the trimmings ( is there anyone that travels with a 24" ? ) and camping gear etc .
The price may sound a lot at first glance but comparing it with renting accommodation buying and having to store and transport a large scope and compared to the likes of New Mexico Skies ( $400 per night scope + accommodation ) a bargain !

Thanks
Zane

Thanks

Hi Zane,

As you are aware, we volunteer and help host visiting Northern Hemisphere observers
at the 3RF sponsored OzSky event about once a year.

Once in a Blue Moon I will get an inquiry from someone from the Northern
Hemisphere who wanted to come to Australia at a time that did not correspond with
OzSky but was looking for the amenity of dark skies and some serious
aperture.

More than happy to draw their attention to Lake Bathurst so please drop
me a line should you consolidate your plans further.

Best Regards
