Above the eclipse-eclipsing fog

Rudely awoken by the 5 am alarm, I ventured outside the back door to see a well-advanced eclipse through the light fog. My wife and I then jumped in the car and made the short drive to the top of the local hill to be well clear of the fog.

All pics taken with a D80 and a 18-200 mm lens.

I estimate that 95% of the region's residents were below the fog blanket that can be clearly seen in a couple of the pics. Also seen is Venus rising.

I must try this early rising again some time as the lighting is fantastic.
