Identification help
I was hoping that you might be able to help identify something I see last night.
During the lull in the rain I ventured outside and looked up. In the sky I noticed some bright shiny things in the sky they didn't last long, about 2 minutes, but it triggered a memory somewhere in the back of my mind, but I just don't seem to be able to place my finger on it.
And today was watching the clouds, black, gray and a strange blue. Someone see me looking upwards and must have seen the look of confusion and told me that it was something called "sky".
I am totally confused HELP please!

There are Iridium flare sattelites which reflect the suns light back to Earth and for brief periods this light can get to mag -8. However I have only seen them for a period of seconds not minutes. Were the lights travelling?

We have had rain for the last 11 days. We have 2 inches of water laying in the garden. I am going crazy I need to get my scope out I only have 8 days of holidays left.
Yes sarcasm was intended.

My grass is drowning the ground is so waterlogged. The ground is flat and the water takes a long time to run away. I will be happy when I move to a hillier location.

That happened here too. At one point there was a hole in the clouds with a bright light in it.
I think some of those things are called "planets" and "stars". I've got some software on the computer that tells me about them and draws pictures of things that look similar.
There's a telescope around here somewhere, but it's been so long since there have been any of these "stars" it might take a while to find.
Anyone read Asimov's "Nightfall"?

Identification Help....
No..., No..., No... You are all wrong!
If you stand up to quickly and look up at the same time, the blood rushes out of your head and you will often see bright spots.... even at night.
The blue can be seen anytime... just close your eyes a apply a little pressure with your fingers... blue light, flashing brightspots..... No problems!
Press harder and it gets hot, then very bright... Like an object I once heard about called "The sun"...
Press harder...., SUPERNOVA! then you go to sleep suddenly...
...This is basic biology and any similarity with natural phenomena of an extra-terestial nature is missinformation put out by the FBI to keep us from the truth.... THERE IS NOTHING OUT THERE!!!

And we're all going stir crazy because we can't see the stars.
Sydney's just had another 24 hours of cloud and rain. Maybe tomorrow might be clear - until moonrise, and we'll go see Avatar in 3D on Tuesday.
