Deep in the LMC

Very good seeing tonight.
I have waited a few weeks for a night with seeing
this steady to test the refined PEC curve on my
homemade worm gear.

I think these objects as far as I can tell are
NGCs 1962 1966 and 1970 when I compare the frame
to an Aladin image.

For my brother-in-law John who
passed away two weeks ago tonight.

Looks very good to me Steve. Was it all unguided?

Below is your image superimposed on one of mine with Registar. Gives an idea where you are.

Yes Registar is amazing. Below is Steves high resolution image and the same area from mine excised with Registar. Even though at 300mm the resolution was very poor compared to Steves image Registar had no trouble doing what it does.

Thanks Jeanette, Bert.

Bert it was unguided but PEC was enabled.
There were only two or three handpad corrections for the set.
I have a slight residual guide rate error still.
Yes that Registar is very clever. I will check that out.

Nice image Steve. I waited until 12 am but it was still cloudy then. I wanted to get a nice Jupiter image but thought sleep and the need to quote more work was far more important. I am glad that someone in SA was imaging even if it was in the early hours.

You should have been out there Paul.
I actually messaged JJJ in the wee small hours and said I hope Paul is
out getting some Joop stuff.

This set was from 2am onwards. Overnight temp got down to 4.5 here.
Ideal.
These nights just don't happen that often so work naturally comes
