Enjoyed the night immensely, after the first three quarters of an hour with clouds it turned out great

All good here too. Except my far better half used the 400D last week and thought by placing the spare battery on top of the kitchen bench it would charge itself.

But wait there's more. The little V8, my Celestron 102SLT, AA battery butcher extrodinaire ran out of battery power at totallity. No worries I had spare AA's for such a crisis. Just got back in my comfy camping chair and the laptop blinked and then flashed and oh no flat battery in the laptop, with no spare (it was fully charged and it is the first time I had ran it flat). Not too worry I'll take the second half direct in the camera and make the best of a sticky situation.

Then the 400D coughed and spluttered. The battery in it went flat. All good till I put what I thought was the spare "fully charged" battery to find it had one bar of power. Wife arrived around this time and said she told me it was nearly flat and left it on the kitchen bench, but not in the battery charger.

So the second half of the eclipse was spent pondering what may have been.

Still had a fantastic night overlooking Botany Bay at Sandringham in Sydney's South. I had the 102SLT setup for photos and took the 10" Dob as I knew some guys from work would be there and they had plenty of good views in this through a 15mm 1.25" EP. Also plenty of locals came up and I had plenty of ooohs and aaahs from them as well, viewing in the Dob and looking over my shoulder as photos kept popping up on the laptop.

Thanks to all on IIS for your knowledge, enthusiasm and genuine passion for our hobby.

Gee I'm going to cope it for this, but i can take it or leave it, it really didn't do much for me, but sort of felt, well, I had better take some images.

Yep, that was fun! The skies were quite dark where I went to observe. During totality, I spotted M104 and Centaurus A with the 20x80 bins I had brought to observe the Moon!
