constant junk and spam mail on phone

Hi Guys, just a question on junk/spam mail.

Alice is constantly bombarded with spam, anything up to 100 a day if not more on her phone, and the subjects from buying something to holidays to enhanced sex life and even some porn stuff plus other junk.

She never opens any of them and deletes them, but they, the notifications just keep coming, so is there anyway she can block this stuff.

I cant really help with it but maybe someone here could help with the problem.

Any advice would be much appreciated as the situation is not getting any better.

Thank You in advance.

Leon

Hi Leon,

This is junk email, right? What is your email provider? (Gmail, Yahoo, Proton, etc, etc) There should be some way of accessing Alice's mailbox from a web browser on her computer and then tagging each spam email as 'SPAM' so that it gets added to your provider's anti-spam catalogue.

If it's the notifications on the phone to say "Hey! You have a new email." then that can be turned off (or at least you should be able to) in the application on the phone itself. (ie, the email still arrives in your inbox but you don't get pinged with a notification. But go and tag all the email as spam.)

If you're with (for example) Google, and you're still getting spammed, then the only real option is to create a new email address and use that. Yes, this is a real pain, as you have to update all your contacts and every single website or service that uses the old email address.

Regards,
V.

If all else fails get her to change her mobile number and/or
change service provider.

Hi Leon,

A screenshot would be helpful to figure out where the notifications are being received/shown e.g., email, browser, other apps. The solution might be as simple as turning off notification for that particular application.

Hello Leon,
I think I may have mentioned this before, but not sure, so I'll suggest it once again...

Why not give Mailwasher Pro a try?

I've been using it for many, many years & never had any kind of "nasty" on my system.
It just displays you the headers & allows you to "wash the mail" before D/L'ing to your device/s.

Take your time to read the links as to what it does.
Plus, it's available for any mobile device & complete instructions are provided at the bottom of the page...under "MAILWASHER MOBILE."

Link to Firetrust dom com > https://www.firetrust.com/products/m...er-pro/support

& pricing options > https://secure.firetrust.com/cart

Hope this helps "The Missus" with her spam dilemma.

Stay safe.

Regs, Laurie..

(NOTE: I have no affiliation to either Firetrust dot com or MWP. I just use it.)

Thank you very much for your suggestions, we will work through them and see how it goes, and let you know .

We might have to employ a 12 year old up the street

We are still having some issues, it appears that all email sent to Alice's iPhone goes into the spam box, nothing sent legit or not goes to the inbox or another box for that matter

This morning when she woke there were 84 emails in the spam and none anywhere else, none in the in box so we are quite lost on how to fix it.

Thanks for your help.

Block the emails? No, unless you change email address. Block the notifications? Yes, you can turn notifications off on the phone.

Sounds like the spam filter is working as intended??

Sorry, hell no, I meant that I might have to take it somewhere physically, no you guys are brilliant when it comes to fix it stuff but you are all so far away.

When I said knowledgeable I meant more knowledgeable than me, and that wouldn't be hard

I better shut up before I dig that hole deeper, thank you so much for all your suggestions

Leon

I think we’d better stop spamming poor Leon’s spam thread or he’ll report us.
